Welcome to Flowers, Pets and Wildlife

If anyone would have said to me a few years ago that I would leave the house that I was born in, I can honestly say that I would have  told them not to be so stupid. However in May of 2012 my family and myself did just that. It was a Saturday morning dark and wet when we came to the house we now live in. Walked the dogs up to the new house set off at 4 am and with a steady walk we arrived at 5.50am. A little wet and tired but it was worth it.
Why did we leave ? Well for various reasons. But most of all the neighbours making our life a living hell. So after 50 plus years we moved. We are now happy and I cried about the garden I left behind but I now have one that is twice the size. Still in the planning stage and since I grow in containers I decided that I would plant some I needed to be able to grow something. Even if it was only a few pots.
The second weekend that we had in the house I went and purchased ten medium planters and eight 60 cm planters .Plus six bags of compostand two bags of mulch. Happy to say that along with £52.00 of plants and small shrubs I lost about three of them due to the very wet weather that we have had this summer. I was most pleased by the rose that my neice picked for me, a Jubilie rose called Queen Elizabeth. It bloomed with fantastic pink roses.
The aim of the garden is to have a place that all of us can share, flowers for the wildlife , pets to have a play and other things, a place that you can sit and watched the world go by. Making sure that all the wild birds have a supply of food. I now have two bird tables and a bird station which is visited everyday by Sparrows, Ring neck Doves, Starlings and Blue tits. Its a joy to watch them.
Well this is the first post of what I hope will be many. I will tell you about the plants that I am growing the ones that  lived and the ones that pasted away. I also want the pots to look different so I will be trying paint and other things. Maybe a touch of Shabby Chic a look of yester year. I hope that you will join me on the journey.
